Elder Law of Michigan is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for, educate, and assist our target populations. While our services address the needs of many different people, we continue to target our services to older adults and persons with disabilities. For over 25 years, we have provided no-cost counseling on legal, pension, housing, nutrition, and benefits access. We also provide direct and collaborative partner assistance to organizations that work with our target populations. We receive financial and in-kind support from many sources, including the U.S. Administration for Community Living, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan’s Aging and Adult Services Agency, the National Council on Aging, the Michigan State Bar Foundation, various community organizations throughout Michigan, volunteers, and donors. Elder Law of Michigan, Inc. was incorporated in 1990 and has provided award-winning programs and services for over 25 years. An all volunteer Board of Directors provides governance to the organization. Our management team has a combined 80 years experience in managing and serving in non-profit organizations. Additionally, Elder Law of Michigan is always interested in volunteers who want to join with others to bring justice, economic security, and safety to the lives of vulnerable families. Volunteers are important, and are a huge contributor to our success. We are dedicated to providing a service-learning environment for our volunteers. Opportunities to volunteer include: - Research and report on legal issues - Provide client advice and assistance - Prepare correspondence - Update publications such as internal legal resources, web content, and brochures.
