San Francisco CASA (SFCASA) transforms the lives of youth traumatized and displaced in foster care and connected systems by providing consistent, caring, volunteer advocates trained to address each child’s needs in the court and the community. The values guiding SFCASA include strength-based, community, commitment, cultural humility and voice. SFCASA currently serves 385 children and youth annually with 23 staff members, 350+ volunteer advocates and a budget of $2.5M. A recently completed strategic plan guides a growth trajectory to serve 500 youth annually with a budget of $3.5M by 2027. More information can be found at www.sfcasa.org. SFCASA is the only volunteer program in San Francisco that empowers everyday citizens to become officers of the court to serve as advocates and mentors to children and youth in foster care and juvenile justice systems. In overburdened and under-funded systems, foster children can slip through the cracks without caring and consistent adults to speak up on their behalf. SFCASA volunteers change that. They provide judges with the crucial information needed to make sound decisions that affect the lives of foster children. SFCASA is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It is one of more than 900 affiliate agencies of the National CASA Association. SFCASA operates under the authority of, and according to guidelines established by, the Judicial Council of California and local rules of court.
