Its key ambitions are to: - Ensure local people have access to a good job within easy reach of home - Create a workforce for the modern world founded on investment in skills and education - Become the UK's capital of innovation and productivity - Be home to healthy and thriving communities - Develop this within a high quality, sustainable environment The Combined Authority comprises representatives from eight organisations. These are Cambridge City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Fenland District Council, Huntingdonshire District Council, Peterborough City Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council and the Business Board. It is set to receive funding and powers from Central Government in a number of areas including: - £170m to deliver new homes over a five-year period in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire which includes affordable, rented and shared ownership housing - £20m a year funding over 30 years to boost growth in the region - Responsibility for chairing a review of 16+ skills provision in the area It is led by Mayor James Palmer who gives the Combined Authority a focal point and is the contact for Central Government, working hard to ensure the organisation works closely with them to deliver the best results for local people.
