The Colorado Preparedness and Response Network (CPRN) is a 501(c)(4) member-owned oil and gas industry-driven initiative working with first responders to enhance emergency preparedness and response in Northern Colorado’s Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin. The CPRN builds on its members' resources, personnel, and expertise to enhance a basin‐wide integrated system to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against potential oil and gas incidents. Specifically, the CPRN exists to allow for collaboration of oil and gas industry partners and emergency first responders to: - Identify the needs of emergency responders. - Allow for and provide consistency in the training of operator personnel and first responders developing long-standing relationships between private and local agency response personnel. - Members train with local response organizations to ensure coordination of resources before an incident occurs. - Provide a unified and consistent incident command structure to respond to emergencies. - Ensure consistency in emergency response efforts by developing best management practices. - Mutual-aid support system between Members to provide and share response resources. The CPRN also maintains relationships by liaising with the local public and Industry forums such as the Local Emergency Planning Community (LEPC), City and County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) organizations, EPA Region 8, Regional Response Team (RRT), as well as other governmental agencies and organizations to ensure adequate planning for emergency response.
