Tom West started the practice after a lengthy career with the Canada Revenue Agency, where he occupied several senior level positions at the Head Quarters level. Thomas was a senior manager in the Appeals Directorate, Tax Avoidance Directorate and Policy and Legislation Division. Tom is a tax specialist who deals with litigation issues, tax planning, and audit assistance with clients who seek guidance when dealing with the CRA. He has obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant, and Certified General Accountant (CPA, CGA) certifications. With over 30 years in tax administration under his belt, Tom has acquired a vast knowledge in tax planning, tax litigation, estate planning, and overall compliance with the Income tax Act, the Excise Tax Act as well as various other government publications. Rob Smith joined the Firm as a partner in 2010. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified General Accountant (CPA, CGA), and he has completed the CICA In-depth Tax Courses. Prior to joining the Firm, Rob was in management in the tax department of one of the "big four" public accounting firms, where his experience ranged from dealing with various tax issues faced by owner-managers to international and expatriate tax.
