American Lands Council is a non-profit advocacy group who are working toward legislation that will compel the federal government to transfer the public lands in the Western states to state control and management. Those Western states include the states West of Colorado (minus Hawaii, but including Alaska), which have as much as 80% of their total land controlled by the federal government. This transfer of public lands would mean (in most cases) more public access, better maintenance of public lands, healthy and productive forests, more jobs, more funding for education and a reduction in national debt.
