The FCSEL's mission is to develop new fabrication techniques and new materials for thin film systems and coatings possessing tailored optical, optoelectronical, micro- and nano-mechanical, tribological, protective properties and other desirable characteristics. The research is focused on understanding and controlling thin film growth and on surface and interface engineering, as well as on the metrology of coating properties for their application in different areas such as optics, photonics, optoelectronics, aerospace, biomedicine, automobile industry, security and others.
