Estrela da Favela is located in the underprivileged favela Mangueira, Rio de Janeiro. Five teachers educate more than 100 children on daily basis in all school subjects and life skills. Sports lessons are used to teach the children the rules and structure needed to work together, set goals and show commitment. In addition lessons in (girls) football and (beach) tennis are taught. A cook provides daily a healthy meal for all children. A psychologist examines about 30 children with their parents or grandparents and treats them or refers them.
