USA Boxing, has governed men's amateur boxing in the United States since 1888. USA Boxing has won 109 Medals in Olympic competition, ranking first among all nations that compete in the Summer Olympic Games. Some of the most famous athletes in the world have emerged from the ranks of USA Boxing and Olympic competition, including Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Oscar de la Hoya. USA Boxing authorizes, recognizes, and insures 57 Local Boxing Committees (LBCs), which are grouped into 14 geographical regions. These LBCs, along with their coaches, athletes, and officials, form the grassroots foundation of USA Boxing and Olympic-style boxing in the United States. USA Boxing's athlete membership is comprised of both male and female boxers. USA Boxing operates on a calendar year basis for operational and financial reporting purposes. USA Boxing files and posts its annual Form 990 required by the Internal Revenue Service. USA Boxing also files an annual Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service.
