ClimaData Corporation
www.climadata.comThis is meteorologist John Morales, writing on behalf of ClimaData, which I founded in 1991. ClimaData has always been a small firm, but occasionally we’ve played a big role. I’m most proud of ClimaData having served Spanish-language media outlets (over 5 dozen of them over the years), because in the 90’s no one was providing potentially life-saving weather alerts to our underserved population in our language. Today, thankfully, a few others do too. It was a niche that I felt I could target given my unique set of skills, and by 1994 we were in 52 radio stations around the U.S. and Puerto Rico. A couple of Caribbean newspapers signed up too, as did TV stations for behind-the-scenes forecasting and guidance. You could call that our “legacy”. Over the years, however, ClimaData has served a wide spectrum of other clients. In government these ranged from city mayors to heads of state. In industry, we’ve helped weather-sensitive multinational pharmaceuticals as well as film crews. In forensics, expert witness and consulting we’ve tackled more than a dozen court cases in which weather was a factor. And today we play a key role for organizations like the National Environmental Education Fund (NEEF) and Climate Central, in translating educational, environmental and climate material into Spanish.
