Islamic Relief Australia (IRAUS) is an independent member of an international humanitarian organisation committed towards the development of sustainable programs, provision of humanitarian aid and relief to millions around the world. Islamic Relief has over 100 branches operating in 40 countries worldwide, working in some of the most remote areas of the world. IRAUS functions in a dignified manner regardless of gender, race or religion and works to empower individuals and give them a voice. IRAUS operates in communities strengthening their resilience to calamity, with an international presence in combatting climate change, emergency response and provision of life-saving aid in active conflicts. Islamic Relief has been mentioned by The Guardian as one of the few charities operating in Aleppo. IRAUS is an active member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and adheres to the ACFID Code of Conduct, which defines minimum standards of governance, management and accountability of development for non-government organisations (NGOs). IRAUS is registered as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), and is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), which means donations of $2 or more to IRAUS are Tax Deductible as regarded by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). In 2017 NGO Advisor ranked Islamic Relief in the Top 20 of the World’s 500 leading NGO’s. In 2015 IRAUS received the award for Community Organisation of the year in the Australian Muslim Achievement Awards (AMAA).
