Rootfinders Genealogy Research
rootfinders-genealogy-research.business.siteRootfinders Genealogy Research helps curious families to discover and explore their ancestors’ stories so they can connect to family, both past and present. We combine traditional document-based research with DNA results to find answers and solve clients’ family history mysteries. Our Genealogist, Anna Hopkins-Arnold, Ph.D., has been researching since 1994 and founded Rootfinders Genealogy Research in 2011. RESEARCH SPECIALTIES We specialize in genealogy research in the US, Ireland, Canada, England. Our US research focuses on solving brick-wall research problems, untangling the identities of people with elusive or conflicting records, tracing pioneer migration, and local Colorado or New Mexico research. Our research in Ireland and England has focused on tracing immigrants back using a wide variety of records to the 1700s, some beyond the English Civil War in the mid-1600s to the Tudor period, and a few families back to the period of Norman settlement in England and Ireland in the 11th and 12th centuries. Our Canadian research includes tracing immigrants from England, Ireland, and France, and Loyalists who fled the US during or after the American Revolution. USING DNA FOR GENEALOGY As a biologist (Ph.D. 1998), Anna understands DNA and how to combine DNA results with traditional document-based genealogy research to discover and confirm genetic family relationships. She began teaching students about DNA in 1992, applying it to genealogy in 2006, and continues following advancements in this rapidly changing field. TEACHING Anna teaches classes (live and online) and coaches individuals about genealogy research methods and using DNA for genealogy through our sister company, “Learn Genealogy Academy.”
