Hermosa Beach is a 1.4 square mile beachfront city located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles area. Incorporated in 1907, Hermosa Beach is home to approximately 19,600 residents, 1,200 businesses, and hosts a variety of high-profile beach events throughout the year attracting visitors from around the world. The City of Hermosa Beach is a general law city with a five-member City Council, City Clerk, and City Treasurer elected at large. One member of the City Council serves as Mayor on a rotating basis. The day to day operation of the City is led by the City Manager. The City has an annual operating budget of approximately $37 million and 145 full-time employees.
