LES EOLIENNES FLOTTANTES DU GOLFE DU LION
www.info-efgl.frOn 3 November 2016, the French State awarded the project company Les Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion S.A.S (LEFGL), made up of the three founding shareholders (ENGIE, EDP Renewables Europe S.L. and the Caisse des Dépôts group) the development, construction and operation of the EFGL pilot farm project located in the Leucate-Le Barcarès area. The EFGL pilot farm project involves the commissioning, in 2023, of a pilot farm of 3 floating wind turbines 16 km off the coast of Leucate and Barcarès in the Occitanie region, and the connection of the turbines to the Public Power Transmission System. The EFGL pilot farm project comprises three MVOW wind turbines with a unit power of 10 MW, associated with semi-submersible floats designed by PRINCIPLE POWER (PPI) in Aix-en-Provence and built by EIFFAGE METAL in Fos-sur-Mer. The connection to the Public Power Transmission System will be provided by RTE, Réseau de Transport d'Electricité. The project has an installed capacity of 30 MW. The EFGL project has been developed in consultation with local stakeholders. It is part of the energy transition process undertaken by the Occitanie region, whose ambition is to become the first positive energy region, a programme which includes a scenario of 3 GW (3,000 MW) of floating wind power by 2050. The project intends to contribute to these objectives by producing the equivalent of the electricity consumption of nearly 50,000 inhabitants each year.
