The Wellcome Connecting Science Courses and Conferences team fund, develop and deliver training and conferences that span basic research, cutting-edge biomedicine, and the application of genomics in healthcare. Working with internationally-renowned scientists and healthcare professionals, we run events at the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge, UK, and in low- and middle-income countries that aim to educate, inspire, and transform careers. Our programme comprises: CONFERENCES: aiming to bridge the gap between basic and translational science, encompassing big data and cutting-edge technologies, and to inspire researchers, clinical staff and industry with the latest knowledge, innovation and networking opportunities. COURSES: aimed primarily at PhD students, postdocs and clinical staff, providing practical and interactive training in the latest biomedical laboratory techniques and data-analysis tools. All courses are subsidised and additional bursaries are available for many events. OVERSEAS COURSES: partnering with regional biomedical research and clinical communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia to provide courses for regional capacity building in genomics. Our overseas courses are free to attend and travel bursaries are available. RETREATS: A series of fully-funded, invitation-only meetings that promote high-level scientific discussion in an informal but intensive way.
