Organization Name & Acronym This organization is and shall be known as Strategies to Advance for and Network Deaf Africans for Ubuntu (hereinafter referred to as “STANDU, Inc.”). Organization Motto The motto of STANDU, Inc. shall be “We are, Therefore We Can" Organization Logo STANDU, Inc. adopts the primary colors associated with Africa: Red, green and black. These colors are reproduced in the logo, the black and green letter U, representing Ubuntu surrounding a red baobab tree, with STANDU, Inc. underneath in red, green and black letters. Sphere of Activities STANDU, Inc. is established exclusively for the purpose of providing programs, services, support, access and information in the areas of rights, empowerment and capacity building to Deaf persons and communities as well as their allies and partners throughout Africa. The PURPOSE of STANDU, Inc. will include: (a) Enhance foundational quality of deaf education in Africa by infusing deaf cultural perspectives and early intervention into education. (b) Promote educational advancement and economic empowerment through direct action and collaboration with local, national, regional and international institutions and organizations. (c) Advocate for deaf people’s access to health and legal services. Our AIMS include the promotion of equal opportunities to access means of wealth-creation and independent living among Deaf communities and their allies and partners throughout Africa; the education of various communities throughout Africa on the fundamental rights of Deaf citizens; and the building of partnerships with a host of entities which share our vision and values. Our VISION is to empower and elevate Deaf Africans and their allies and partners in all spheres of endeavor. Our MISSION is to avail Deaf individuals and communities in Africa with the support and resources necessary to be effective and contributing members of their local and national communities.
