The Fort Monroe Authority (FMA) is governed by a 14-member Board of Trustees consisting of appointees from the city of Hampton, the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate and the Virginia governor's cabinet, and eight gubernatorial appointees. The FMA is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia charged with managed the state property at the former Army installation at Fort Monroe in Hampton, Virginia.
