IronRock Insurance Company was formed in 2015 by founders Evan Thwaites, the Hon. William McConnell and Wayne Hardie with a view to provide Jamaican consumers with a more efficient general insurance service, which leverages the benefits of up-to-date information technology in order to automate and streamline many of the processes that are typically associated with general insurance. The company was listed on Jamaica's Junior Stock Exchange in early 2016 and formally began operations in March 2016, writing all classes of general insurance. The founders of IronRock are known for their considerable experience in the local insurance industry, which was gained when they led Globe Insurance Company of Jamaica Limited, part of the Lascelles deMercado group of companies, for over 20 years. Leveraging various efficiencies through the use of innovative technologies, the company maintains a very lean staff complement and flat organizational structure, with a management team that has over 100 years of experience, combined.
