Cyber-attacks on Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and in particular on critical industrial and manufacturing infrastructures is now a reality. Industrial manufacturing and infrastructure facilities rely heavily on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and other types of equipment. This equipment is controlled and monitored by Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. These systems have become the target of cyber hackers as traditional ICS and SCADA systems are inadequately protected from both external and internal vulnerabilities. Most companies are predominantly securing their corporate network (IT systems) while their operational technology network (OT network) is unprotected, which could result in significant safety risk and lost revenue when a breach occurs.
