The combination of our signature heavy duty canvas combined with leather represents the heart and soul of the safari era that the company’s products evoke. BACK STORY OF THE FAMILY BUSINESS Started by the Melvill family, Melvill & Moon is still family run and owned. We are backed by an African heritage that goes back 8 generations. Having arrived in Southern Africa as missionaries in the 1700’s, the Melvill family established themselves as prominent land surveyors, cattle ranchers and soldiers with Lieutenant Teignmouth Melvill winning the Victoria Cross at the Battle of Isandlwana in 1876.
