The country's demand for energy pipelines is daunting, still growing, and the nation's pipeline surveyor workforce is strained. Fewer men and women enter the profession and those that do often have misinformation about the work and struggle to balance technology with fundamental surveying skills. And, although pipeline surveyors are pivotal to every project's development and maintenance (They are always the first people on any job and the last to leave.) their role is misunderstood or, worse, discounted. APPS tackles the growing demand for a qualified pipeline surveyor workforce by training and certifying professional surveyors as professional PIPELINE surveyors. Also, to elevate the profession, APPS educates industry, policy, and community stakeholders about surveyors' roles in assuring safe and effective pipelines throughout North America.
