www.vru.ac.thValaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage was founded by Her Royal Highness Somdetch Phra Raja Pituchha Chao Fa Valaya Alongkorn, Krom Luang, the Princess of Phetchaburi. H.R.H. Princess Valaya Alongkorn was greatly concerned with the education of young Thai women. Therefore, on June 4, 2475 B.E. (1932 C.E.), she donated four rai (.64 hectare) of land to the Ministry of Education to establish Petchburiwittayalongkorn Teacher Training School. The current address of this original donation is Number 153, Petchburi Road, Thung Phayathai Subdistrict, Rajathevi District, Bangkok. This building and land had previously belonged to Phraya Phactpongsawisutthathibordi (Sun Sundravej). The first group of students were teacher-training students, other post-secondary students, and secondary school students (Matthayom 7 and 8) who were transferred from Benjamorajalai School. The first head master was Ajarn Nilrat Bansitvorasan. The school had the letter “P” as an emblem. The color green was chosen as the school color because green is the color associated with Wednesday, which is the day of the week on which H.R.H Princess Valaya Alongkorn was born.Since that time, the institute established by Her Royal Highness has performed the duties of both post-secondary education, specializing in training students to become teachers, and of secondary school education.
