The business also, through its breeding and crop development programmes, makes available on a priority basis, varieties and cropping systems to its shareholders to enable them to set up linked individual enterprises. Elanza Fresh capitalises on opportunities afforded by advances in genetics and high tunnel production and realised through integrating and managing four key functions: plant breeding and selection, crop development and management systems, production, and marketing. This is undertaken by selecting high value crops traditionally grown as open ground crops and modifying and adapting to protected cropping systems, and, in so doing, managing key risks that most impact on the viability of the enterprise.
