The School of Economics at the University of Kent is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research. Our passion for the subject and research-led approach to teaching provides students with a first-class academic experience, as well as building personal skills and enhancing career prospects. Our cosmopolitan academic and student community, coupled with a thriving research culture, creates an inspiring and challenging environment to study economics. At Kent you will learn from economists who are internationally recognised for their research, but who also take a practical approach to the subject. Many of our staff act as advisers and experts to UK and international agencies, including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Asian Development Bank, European Central Bank, Bank of England, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, HM Treasury, and many others. We offer a range of undergraduate degrees, with the option to take a year in industry or to study abroad. You can also choose to combine Economics with other subjects such as Accounting, Management, Politics or Law. Our postgraduate offering includes six Master's programmes, which provide the opportunity to specialise in areas such as financial economics, econometrics or development, plus a two-year Economics Conversion Programme for those who have a first degree in a subject other than Economics. The School also offers two four-year PhD research programmes in Economics and Agri-Environmental Economics.
