The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (abbreviated as MPA, as in Portuguese Ministério da Pesca e Aquicultura) is mainly responsible for the setting of national policy towards capture fisheries and aquaculture. In performing its responsibilities, the Ministry also carries out activities in connection with sanitary aspects of aquatic animals, registration of fishermen and fish industries, among other activities.
