Michael Youmans Photography
www.michaelyoumans.co.ukI remember being about five years old when I received my Hulk Hogan Remco 110 film series camera. Every picture I took had an imprint of Hulk Hogan in the bottom right-hand corner, and to a five-year-old that's pretty amusing. The 110 film cameras were pretty popular when I was growing up, and therefore I spent most of my childhood with them. My mother (who refuses to admit she is an AMAZING photographer) is a massive inspiration to me. She has albums upon albums of her entire life; captured with every camera you can think of. Unfortunately, I had the pleasure of breaking her Polaroid Big Swinger 3000 as a kid. I FIXED IT YEARS LATER THOUGH!!! It wasn't hard for me to fall in love with capturing every moment that I could growing up on Cape Cod. I decided one day that I wanted to capture other peoples moments professionally. I wanted to photograph portraits, weddings, engagements, candid moments...you get the picture! My art allows people to remember their happiest moments forever, and I am incredibly grateful for this. Grateful because I know hard it is to get started in this business and keep the passion at the same time. If you have a dream or even a moment of clarity, RUN WITH IT! Run with it as fast as you can and don’t let it go. I live to capture adventures and memories every day because it is something I love. You DO NOT need some fancy degree, or 748,238,423 dollars to become a photographer. The photographic eye develops over time, and it only improves with patience. I slammed myself for years thinking I was never going to be good enough. Be patient, and it will all come together! Plus if your dreams come true, mission accomplished right? If not there is always the next best thing which of course, is oatmeal raisin cookies, or replica stormtrooper gear.
