UW-Eau Claire University Honors Program
www.uwec.lyThe University Honors Program at UW-Eau Claire cultivates a challenging and supportive learning environment for high-achieving, highly motivated students. We strive to support exceptional students in exploring new challenges and interests, enriching their capacity for critical inquiry and independent learning, and developing their potential for leadership in their communities and future vocations. Our program offers unique courses, extracurricular learning experiences, leadership opportunities, honors housing, and special advising. Most importantly, honors students become part of a learning community that connects outstanding students and faculty from every discipline on campus. Our students have won Rhodes, Fulbright, and Goldwater fellowships, and earned graduate degrees at a wide range of universities from Yale to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and everywhere in between. Our alumni are leaders in their communities and have created rewarding careers in the Chippewa Valley and around the world. The heart of our program is our ever-changing slate of honors courses, which are distinguished by their focus on discussion, their innovative teaching, and the way they involve students in shaping the learning experience. These courses include our famous honors colloquia—thematic courses that give students the opportunity to work with faculty on their newest research, explore topics across disciplinary boundaries, and engage their communities. In the University Honors Program, we value equity, diversity, and inclusion. We strive to make honors education available to a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds, and we value achievement and excellence in all of their many forms.
