The Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering was set up by Shell Petroleum Development Company as a new initiative in its University Assistance Program, to strengthen the intervention strategies from ‘within’ the university environment. This is in addition to the several university assistance and intervention programs of the Company. The Centre of Excellence however differs significantly in that it is domiciled within the university environment which will also serve as a rallying point for research and development, sponsored discipline experts (sabbaticals, Professorial Chairs, etc.). VISION To train industry-ready skilled professional manpower at the postgraduate level in geosciences that will be ready for opportunities in the Oil and Gas industry and the Academia in Nigeria in particular and the West African sub-region in general.
