Tsavo Rangeland Foundation

TRF (Tsavo Rangeland Foundation) is a Kenyan NGO bringing conservation support and economic stability to people in the Tsavo rangeland in Southern Kenya, a vitally important area that includes two of Kenya’s largest national parks, as well as many communities and villages that border the parks. TRF is creating a conservation model that creates jobs and income streams for local people, strengthens the viability of the Tsavo national parks, and creates harmony among communities and wildlife. The photo above is one of our water trucks filling a watering hole in Tsavo East park. This is one aspect of our work. By bringing water to wildlife in drought conditions, the animals are less likely to roam into villages in search of sustenance. Our other projects include mining and construction operations that employ local people, and the profits are rolled into our conservation efforts. It is a conservation model that is self-sustaining, community-centered, and preserves Kenya’s heritage by protecting its rare and amazing wildlife.
