The Connecticut Convergence Institute for Translation in Regenerative Engineering at UConn Health fosters innovation in the field of regenerative engineering by strengthening established research endeavors and utilizing signature programs to enhance funding, research, and build the pipeline of students interested in careers in science and engineering. The team consists of a talented group of leaders, program directors, and staff who oversee and implement initiatives and projects. Members of the leadership team have a wealth of experience, are NIH-funded and experts in their field, and reflect the diversity of clinical and translational research in the region. Chief Executive Officer - Cato T. Laurencin, M.D., Ph.D. is the 8th designated University Professor at the University of Connecticut and is the Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. He earned his B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and his Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. An engineer, scientist, and surgeon, he is known as a world leader in biomaterials, nanotechnology, stem cell science, drug delivery systems, and a field he pioneered, regenerative engineering.
