Social & Historical Sciences at UCL is an intellectually diverse and widely regarded as world leading, with the 2021 Times Higher World University Rankings placing our social sciences 14th in the world and our arts and humanities disciplines 5th. We are a large and vibrant community of academics and students working in eight departments and institutes: the Departments of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, History of Art and Political Science, and the Institutes of the Americas, Archaeology and Advanced Studies. Our interests span the globe, as we seek to understand the social, political, economic, cultural and environmental processes that have shaped the world over time.
