THE NEW WAY OF LIVING R way of living brings the residents of the concept and visitors to the city together in a community. Each complex has an innovative combination of housing, hospitality units and local facilities, whereby the composition and size can differ per location. R way of living offers a temporary solution to the housing crisis. In the year 2020, it is practically impossible for certain target groups, such as young professionals to find affordable housing in the city. R way of living as concept gives everyone the opportunity to find affordable housing. In exchange for various activities within the community, the cost of living for residents becomes cheaper. Hours worked are converted into discount on the rent. Residents with a distance to the labour market can also develop themselves by contributing to the project. The types of work include, for example, taking care of the hospitality units, running errands, maintaining the website, managing the living room, maintaining the communal garden or a management position. Residents of the community can commit themselves for example on average 4 hour a week, next to their regular activities. Residents with a distance to the labour market will commit themselves for an average of 10 to 38 hours a week. This depends on the agreements made between residents, supervisors and the municipality. The residents of the community share common facilities within the complex, which encourages them to come together in a natural way. For example, all living rooms look out onto a central courtyard, there is a shared living room (with kitchen, workplaces, play areas, etc.) and laundry facilities are also shared. To ensure the social and personal element, the size of each complex and the community is never too big. People greet and know each other and live with one another.
