The Energy Innovation Agency is an independent organisation based in Greater Manchester (GM) that represents a unique collaboration by our eight partners from the public, private and academic sectors. The Energy Innovation Agency is responsible for stimulating and driving energy innovation for the Greater Manchester City region to meet our 2038 carbon-neutral targets. In GM, there exists a ‘gap’ in carbon emissions reductions between where we need to be to meet our Paris and Glasgow Climate Agreement aligned carbon budget and where we will end up, we call this the ‘innovation gap’. New technologies, products, and services need to be developed, tested, scaled, and widely deployed to meet this gap The vision for the Energy Innovation Agency is to lead the transition to a zero carbon society and economy by bridging the energy innovation gap, leading to an acceleration of emissions reductions, increased implementation of technological innovations and enhanced, forward-thinking policy agenda setting Access to our unique partnership will bridge the energy innovation gap by validating, exploiting and scaling up effective low-carbon energy innovations, to enable rapid commercialisation and reduce Greater Manchester’s carbon emissions.
