Penn State Panhellenic Executive Council

www.pennstatephc.org

Since 1872, greek life has been a central aspect of student life at Penn State. In 1926, the first sorority was chartered and from there Penn State's greek life has continued to grow exponentially. Today, Penn State is home to one of the largest greek systems in the nation. The Penn State Panhellenic Executive Council oversees 22 active chapters, all with diverse sisterhoods, values, philanthropic missions, and traditions. We are the largest women's organization on campus consisting of over 5,000 women and we are constantly looking for more ways to empower the women we represent. The purpose of Penn State's Panhellenic Executive Council is to represent the interests of the 22 Panhellenic chapters to the University administration and to promote unity amongst all chapters. Additionally, as a self-governing organization, we manage a sorority-wide judicial system, the Greek Judicial Board, and spearhead all recruitment & publicity efforts for our community. In 1973, Penn State's Inter-fraternal Council and Panhellenic Council co-founded the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. Today, it is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, both in revenue and volunteer participation. Over $136 million has been raised and donated to The Four Diamonds Fund, a charity devoted to defeating pediatric cancer through research and caring for patients at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
