The Second Half Centre
www.thesecondhalfcentre.comThe Second Half Centre, located in the NHS St Charles Centre for Health and Wellbeing on Exmoor Street W10, opened it’s doors to the over 50s community on October 29th 2012. It is open every Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5:00pm Our mission is to get our ageing population together doing things they enjoy in a dedicated space: bridging the digital divide, learning new skills to get back to work, rediscovering the pleasures of old hobbies and finding new ones, exercising, and feeling involved through volunteering, mentoring and teaching. We view isolation as a disability, targeting people who are isolated from all socio-economic groups, races and religions in Kensington and Chelsea and surrounding boroughs. In our beautiful 3400 square foot state-of-the-art multi-purpose centre we hold hold over 50 hours of activities and classes each week, from Zumba to Thai cooking to a BTEC Level 1 IT Diploma. All our classes are taught by accredited teachers in their chosen fields. Classes cost £3 for a one hour class, £4 for a 1 ½ hour class and £5 for a 2 hour class. The Christina Smith Bursary is in place for members who can’t afford to pay the full amount. The Second Half Centre also contains the Life Cafe, where members can pop in, make new friends , have a cup of cappuccino or tea and eat our wonderful carrot , courgette and banana breads made daily on the premises. For more information, call 0208 962 5500, check out our website or pop in - we're always happy to see new faces!
