Solomons Temple Foundation
www.solomonstempleinc.orgOn any given night, more than 3,000 Atlantans experience homelessness. Of those, more than 40% are women and their children. Solomon’s Temple is a holistic emergency and transitional shelter for homeless women and their children, driven by a mission to treat the root causes of homelessness in Atlanta. We do this by empowering women and their children to: - Overcome Life’s Challenges - Realize Their Potential - Define Their Own Destiny - Become Vital Factors In The Revitalization Of Their Community Structured as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, we rely on generous contributions from the community to offer shelter, food, family coaching and employment services to our residents. What makes us different? We envision a day when homelessness is a thing of the past. That’s why we work every day to provide shelter, confidence and life skills training to hundreds of Atlanta mothers and families. Our success comes from our commitment to doing things differently, including: - Keeping families together under one roof, welcoming mothers with teenage sons, without incident. Most shelters will require boys as young as 14 to go to the men’s shelter. - Housing our residents longer than the standard 90 days, giving them six months of care to ensure they have somewhere to transition to when they leave. - Delivering job training and financial literacy education, understanding that economic empowerment is the key to long-term employability and housing. During their time with Solomon’s Temple, many women experience stability in their home lives for the first time. They know where their next meal is coming from. Their children go to the same school for months at a time. Lifted out of the daily struggle for survival, they experience hope for the first time.
