The club was established in September 2017 on the back of the AFL International Cup; we were attracted by the substantial interest from the local Indian community and enthusiasm of Indian-origin players playing competitive footy. Since then, the underlying purpose for the Bharat Football Club has been to give people of Indian origin the chance to play Australian Rules football and grow the game amongst the 455,389 Indian’s in Australia and the 169,802 in Victoria alone. Not only are we working extensively on developing the game amongst Indian’s here in Australia but we are also working with various organisations in India with developing the sport over there and tap into the 1.324 billion people there.
