Eagle River Watershed Council

www.erwc.org

Mission The Eagle River Watershed Council advocates for the health and conservation of the Upper Colorado and Eagle River basins through research, education, and projects. The Council strives to protect and enhance the high-quality natural, scenic and economic values that our rivers and tributaries provide to the citizens, visitors and wildlife of the Eagle River and Colorado River watersheds located in Eagle County. Company Overview The Eagle River watershed is a unique network of clear mountain streams and two major rivers- the Eagle and Upper Colorado - that provide good water quality in ample quantity for a self-sustaining fish population and still meet our community needs. Almost the entire Eagle River Watershed is located in Eagle County, and three quarters of it exists in public land managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. At the same time, however, the Eagle River and its tributaries and the Upper Colorado River are under threat from increased urbanization, water diversions, and diverse resource uses on public and private land. This unique physical and ecological setting juxtaposed against the constant threat of degradation to our watershed gives us purpose as an organization for what we want to be.
