Welcome to the City of Westwego Emergency Medical Services Official Linkedin Page. We are the primary 9-1-1 provider of advanced life support and transport for the citizens of Westwego, LA. Established in the early 1980s, our service is dedicated to providing emergency services for illnesses/injuries requiring prehospital treatment and emergent transportation to appropriate hospitals for definitive care. We are dedicated to providing efficient and high-quality medical care to all of our patients. We currently employ approximately 35 personnel (full-time/part-time) who have achieved both national and state certifications in a wide range of emergency medical skills from basic, advanced, and paramedic levels. Additional certifications are held in advanced courses for cardiac, pediatric, trauma, and stroke care. We operate three fully equipped advanced life support ambulances. On average, our service receives approximately 150 – 200 calls for service per month. Each crew is comprised of a duo-Paramedic or a Paramedic/EMT combination to continually provide advanced level care to all patients. Here are a few community programs we currently offer residents.
