York Against Cancer

www.yorkagainstcancer.org.uk

York Against Cancer is an independent charity providing practical help and support to patients and families living with cancer in York, North and East Yorkshire. Our mission is to make a difference to everybody affected by cancer, whether that's a patient, a carer or a loved one. We will be opening our brand-new cancer support centre, The Leveson Centre, at York Community Stadium in Huntington, York this Autumn. The Leveson Centre will provide a wide range of holistic cancer support services, helping patients from across the region to live with and beyond cancer. Our free minibus service takes patients from their homes in York and the surrounding areas to St James’s Hospital, Leeds for radiotherapy appointments - saving patients money on travel and parking and lessening the worry as they prepare for treatment. Our seaside holiday home in Filey is available to anyone undergoing cancer treatment at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (within a year of cancer treatment) for a three or four-night stay alongside friends and family. We support the pioneering work of the scientist and researchers at the Jack Birch Unit (JBU) at the University of York where internationally recognised research into cancer is undertaken. Funding lifesaving research into cancer is only made possible thanks to an incredible community of supporters and donors. We are supported by businesses, organisations, groups, schools, and individuals. Together, we really do make a difference to the lives of local people affected by cancer.
