The Clothing Collective NPO

www.theclothingcollective.org

The Clothing Collective is a Non-Profit Organisation which specializes in the collection and distribution of second-hand clothing. Pre-loved clothing is deposited into Collective Containers, which are strategically placed around Johannesburg. Once the clothing is deposited, The Clothing Collective, in partnership with The Clothing Bank, distributes this clothing to a team of unemployed mothers from South Africa’s informal sector. These mothers then resell this clothing in order to start businesses of their own. The mothers are provided with training, guidance and psychological upliftment which enhances their ability to become capable, self-sufficient entrepreneurs. The women on our program are encouraged to hit sales targets, which will provide at least enough income for the mothers to support their families and sustain functional lives. This income also gives these previously-disadvantaged women a sense of empowerment, which thereby enhances their long sought-after confidence. The Clothing Collective provides a way for second-hand clothing - an unutilized resource - to be put to work, providing sustainable income for impoverished communities. Donate Old Clothes, Create New Jobs We thank our six container hosts who have been willing to host containers and change lives with us. If you would like to donate clothing - please drop off at one of our six locations: - Benmore Shopping Center - Bryanston Shopping Center - Investec Bank - Melrose Arch - Victory Park Center - Worley Parsons
