Shumba Football Development is the current log winners of the Soweto Football Assocition academy league U20 division. The team is coached by Mr Edelbert Dinha We train from tuesday to friday every week from 4:30 pm Leeuwkop Medium B Soccer Field. The team is growing to such an extent that it draws kids from Diepsloot, Olivenhout , Alexandra, Tembisa and other surrounding areas. The vision of Shumba Football Development is to create a community where young boys have access to structured and organized sports programmes, which promotes psycho-social development, life skills training as well as basic exercise in a fun and safe environment thus keeping them away from engaging in criminal activities. Our Mission is to promote mass participation in sport and the teams primary mission is to develop young people holistically through development coaching clinics and through a “high performance” coaching programme. Through all its activities, Shumba FC is guided by the following five objectives: • To promote mass participation in athletics and soccer. • To teach life skills using sport – empower young people. • To expose young athletes to opportunities that lie in sport. • To create job opportunities for the youth and sports enthusiasts.
