Northeast Ohio Regional Airport is public-use general aviation airport located eight nautical miles southeast of the central business district of Ashtabula and ten miles south of Lake Erie. The airport has undergone significant updates and upgrades during the past few years, and its single asphalt runway (designated 9/27) today measures 5,900 x 100 feet. The majority of the airports taxiways were repaved in 2016, and the runway safety area was redesigned to be fully compliant with current safety standards. Northeast Ohio Regional Airport uses the identifier HZY on the FAA system and the identifier JFN on the IATA system. Northeast Ohio Regional Airport is a jet capable class CII airport, capable of handling aircraft up to 90,000 lbs. (roughly the size of a Gulfstream V).
