Asikhulumeni
www.asikhulumeni.org.zaAsikhulumeni is an NPO that is primarily aimed at having conversations around gender-based violence and toxic masculinity in all high schools throughout South Africa. The time is now not only for men to speak, but to take action into what is happening countrywide. If we don't, the sad and sobering reality is that acts such as these will continue to take place if we continue to remain silent and inactive. Our workshops consist of two segments. The first segment is an informative presentation including statistics, explanations, and shared experiences. The second segment is a conversational debrief during which concepts and values are unpacked on a more personal and individual level. We have workshops for both junior high and senior high aged students, and for both male bodied and female bodied students. Asikhulumeni is simply an attempt to start a conversation that has been long overdue. It is a way to get men to first think and then to do better from a young age. Gentlemen, asikhulumeni, let's talk.
