Shuweihat Asia Power Company "SAPCO" is a private joint stock company comprising local (TAQA) and international investors (Sumitomo Corporation of Japan and Korea Electric Power Corporation of Korea). SAPCO is the ninth local independent power plant and third to be located within the Shuweihat Complex. Construction of the plant was completed in July 2014 and since then SAPCO have been responsible for successfully delivering 1,600 MW of electricity under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with Emirates Water and Electricity Corporation (EWEC).
