Americana
amstudies.byu.eduAmericana is a Brigham Young University undergraduate annual student journal which, as its name implies, deals with all topics American. The journal was created in conjunction with the BYU American Studies Student Association in 2001 as a way for students to participate in creating new knowledge and understanding about unique and multi-faceted American experiences. Like the American Studies Program, Americana strives to embrace a diversity of emphases, thus allowing students to showcase a wide variety of scholarship. The American Studies Program allows students to examine the sweep of American experience, society, culture, and civilization from a variety of viewpoints. Undergraduates serve as editors and on the selection committee, which reviews submissions. These students also work with authors to revise papers and prepare them for publication in the spring. American Studies students are strongly encouraged to participate in Americana, either as published scholars, or on the editing staff, although students from any major are welcome to contribute. Meetings are held on an as-needed basis usually every other week.
