The Pittsburgh Thunderbirds is a professional ultimate Frisbee team competing in the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL). Ultimate Disc (usually known as Ultimate, or Ultimate Frisbee) is a unique blend of soccer and football. It parallels soccer’s adept and cunning passing while utilizing football’s process of scoring into an endzone. The Thunderbirds completed their inaugural season in 2015 competing in the Midwest division, finishing with a 13-3 overall record. Our mission is to grow interest in Ultimate Disc in the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania regions, develop an elite team of athletes, encourage participation in the sport through community involvement, and provide fans with high entertainment for an excellent value. We will work to improve visibility of the sport in the region and promote youth participation in recreational and competitive environments.
