The St Andrew’s experience doesn’t have to finish when a student graduates. The OAA is a thriving community that remains connected with each other and the school well beyond graduation. A voluntary council of ex-students run the OAA’s Year-based reunions and events such as the ‘Annual’, a night that draws together graduates of all ages and areas. Not only are friendships maintained with other students – reconnections with the school are made possible too, through volunteering and mentoring arrangements, allowing graduates to give back. Formally the Old Boys’ Union (OBU), the OAA reflects the many changes of the school, from introducing coeducation, to its Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander campus, Gawura. The OAA is a not for profit organisation.
