Museum Deelen
www.museumdeelen.nlMMuseum Deelen Air Base was founded in 1989 and is managed exclusively by volunteers. The collection illustrates the history of Deelen airbase from 1910 to the present and in a broader sense of the air war over the Netherlands in the years 1940-1945. The museum shows you, among other things: Information about the expansion of the airfield in WW2 by the German occupier and the military use of the airfield by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Aircraft wreckage from the air war over the Netherlands (1940-1945) in which approximately 7,500 aircraft have already crashed in the Netherlands alone. This also includes pilot clothing, navigation equipment and aircraft armament. The history of the German 'night hunt' in which Allied bombers were attacked on their route to National Socialist Germany. Remains of the Canadian war dump (from the years 1945-1946) which has included 37,000 vehicles, motorcycles, jeeps, scoutcars, tanks, trucks, artillery pieces. Also on display are a Bedfort army vehicle, a fuselage part of a Stirling aircraft and a partly original V1 'flying bomb'.
