The Department of the House of Representatives

www.aph.gov.au

The Department of the House of Representatives is one of four parliamentary departments that operate at Parliament House. The department provides services to support the efficient conduct of the House of Representatives, its committees and certain joint committees as well as a range of services and facilities for Members in Parliament House. The department also undertakes activities to promote the work of the House in the community and is responsible for the conduct of the Parliament’s international and regional relations. The Department has a single outcome: The House of Representatives fulfils its role as a representative and legislative body. Five activities support this outcome: 1. Chamber and Federation Chamber 2. Community awareness 3. Committee support 4. Inter-parliamentary relations and capacity building 5. Members' services and corporate support The diversity of our staff is very important to us and we actively encourage applications from people with disabilities, LGBTIQ people, women and people with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We recognise the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the unique knowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees bring to our workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander people for vacancies in the Department.
